RPA Designation Criteria

Qualification criteria for attaining the RPA Designation are:

TO BECOME A CANDIDATE:

1. Meet all requirements for regular membership listed in the Society's bylaws.
2. Have a minimum of 2 years' experience adjusting claims.
3. Have successfully completed AIC, SCLA Designation, or similar.

TO BECOME A RPA:

1. Meet all requirements for membership listed in the Society's bylaws.
2. Have a minimum of 5 years' experience in one of the occupational categories acceptable for membership (i.e. Claims Adjuster, Supervisor/Manager/Educator of Adjusters), and an AIC, SCLA, or similar designation; OR have a minimum of 10 years' experience in once of the occupational categories acceptable for membership.
3. Pass the Ethics Exam with the IIA.
4. Pass the RPA Designation Exam.

TO BECOME A MASTER RPA:

1. Be a regular member in the Society in good standing for a minimum of 2 years. "In good standing" includes timely payment of dues and timely completion of CEs.
2. Have NO ethics violations on their record during their during their membership in the Society.
3. Have a minimum of 10 years' experience in one of the occupational categories acceptable for membership.
4. Pass one of the Society's Masters' exams in a line of business.
5. Be recommended by their employer and at minimum 2 customers and 2 competitors.
6. Gain a passing grade on an examination of their work project.

The RPA Credentials Committee reviews all applications - a process that takes 45 to 60 days. Applications are reviewed only when the required documentation has been submitted along with the completed application and matriculation fee.
