Important Message Re: mRPA

The Society's Board of Directors at the request of the mRPA committee chair has approved delaying the implementation of the mRPA designation until September 1, 2006. The committee has requested additional time to develop the appropriate case studies on which the candidates will be tested.

The Board, wanting to make sure that the committee has all the time it needs to develop the qualifications and testing components sufficient to make the designation meaningful, has unanimously agreed to the extension.

Additional information on the progress of the mRPA designation will be noted on a timely basis here on the Society's website. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

A reminder that the Board of Directors along with the Head of the Education Committee voted to change the CE Credits from 50 earned over five years to 15 annually after the Grandfathering period ended in July of 2001.

If you need to, you may carry credits over from one year to another, but only if you did not achieve your 15 for the previous year.

How does this work? If you do not record 15 credits in a calendar year, you must make up those credits the following year and achieve the 15 credits required in the second year (30 credits total). This is the only way members who enter the year in arrears in credits can remain in good standing. If you fail to make up the required number of credits in the second year, you will likely lose your RPA Designation.

A reminder - when sending in CE Credits for approval that haven't been preapproved, we need a Syllabus as well as the Date, Time, Place, Presenter/s and Content of the Course, plus the Speakers' CV. The RPA CE Form must be completed by the member and signed by the Speaker or Presenter to confirm that you attended. If you take an online course, we need to see the Grade Sheet or Certificate which proves that you successfully completed the course.

Courses need to be Insurance/Claims/Adjustment related. If you teach a course you can get credit for this as well. Please send in the above, along with your presentation; you cannot sign your own CE Form.

If for some reason you did not get the Speaker or Presenter to sign your CE Form, then we will accept a letter from them attesting to your attendance.

These are the only ways we will accept approval for non pre-approved CE Credits.

Continuing Education is the key to maintaining your RPA - check your member listing to see where you stand...15 is the number you are shooting for.

Please note the ongoing requirement that credits must be spread over two courses, seminars, or conferences, of which no more than five credits will be allowed for non-claims/adjustment related managerial topics. The application for Continuing Education credit can be found on the Downloadable page.

Renewal: You will shortly be able to click here to download the 2005 RPA Renewal Forms. The Renewal fee of $150 is due on or before March 1st for the current year, otherwise you will be removed from the RPA for non-payment of dues.
